'Experience Talayotic Menorca' activities 2026

The Talayotic Menorca Agency has put together the third edition of the ‘Experience Talayotic Menorca’ educational programme to share knowledge of Menorca’s Talayotic heritage, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The programme includes activities, excursions and guided tours to showcase the social, cultural and environmental values of our heritage.

Limited spaces available. Registration for each activity will open two Mondays before it is due to take place. One person can book for a maximum of two adults and three children. Confirmed participants will receive an email with information on the meeting place and time between Thursday and Friday of the week of the excursion. A monumental perspective

An excursion to Torre d’en Galmés to see recent findings from the excavations around the settlement’s central talayot up close.

Activity in Son Catlar where we will find out about the restored walls and the criteria and challenges involved in the latest conservation project in one of the island’s biggest settlements.

An afternoon observation activity in Trepucó, where we will find out about an essential aspect of Talayotic Menorca: the stone used for building, and the lichens that grow on it today.

Legends of the Talayotic world

Place: Torralba d’en Salort

Children’s activity at Torralba d’en Salort. Little ones will discover Talayotic culture through the legends our ancestors told and take part in a workshop focusing on how talayots, taula sites and circular houses were built.

How do we manage Talayotic settlements?

Place: Naveta des Tudons i Torrellafuda

Trip to the Naveta des Tudons and Torrellafuda to discover the management, maintenance and conservation criteria applied to settlements within component 1 of the Talayotic Menorca declaration.

Archaeologists for a day

Place: Museu de Can Saura

Activity at Museu de Can Saura (Ciutadella) where we will become archaeologists for a day. We will find out what work gets done in a museum and experience what archaeologists do with the artefacts found in archaeological excavations.

Women archaeologists and Talayotic archaeology: Past, present and future
Date: 8 March 2026 (Activity postponed due to rain)

Place: Talatí de Dalt
Registration: March 2, 2026 at 08:00h

International Women’s Day activity. We will visit the settlement of Talatí de Dalt and explore it from the perspective of the women archaeologists who have studied this site – as well as other Talayotic Menorca settlements – and continue to do so.

A peculiar construction

Place: Galliner de Madona

Excursion to the Binigaus Gorge to marvel at the Galliner de Madona hypostyle hall. The visit will focus on the monument and the plans to restore it.

Caves and funerary rituals

Place: Son Mercer de Baix

A trip to Son Mercer de Baix to explore the settlement of navetas next to the gorge. Then, we will go down and discover one of the burial systems used in Talayotic culture – cave burials – and the accompanying funerary rituals.
