The Consell Insular de Menorca hosted the Alianza de Paisajes Culturales y Sitios Afines del Patrimonio Mundial Workshop, which was held on the island from 10 to 12 March 2025. Under the title
‘Communicating World Heritage properties: Interpretative and informative resources to connect with society’, the event brought together experts in heritage and communication to discuss the best strategies for transmitting the value of the sites inscribed on the World Heritage List. The different presentations and interventions of the Cultural Landscapes and Related World Heritage Sites Alliance Workshop can be viewed on the Alliance's official YouTube channel.
This meeting combined theoretical sessions with guided visits, with the aim of sharing experiences of initiatives aimed at strengthening the connection between heritage and society, through the use of tools and methodologies that facilitate its interpretation and understanding by the public. One of the main novelties of this edition is that attendance was open to the general public, allowing anyone interested in the dissemination of heritage to join the activities.
The workshop was attended by renowned specialists in the field of heritage and communication, who shared their knowledge and experiences in various sessions. Among them, Pablo Jiménez Díaz, from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs; Celia Martínez Yáñez, from ICOMOS International; and Mariola Andonegui, from the San Millán de la Cogolla Foundation. In addition, several practical cases of heritage dissemination were presented, such as the experience of the Madinat al Zahra Archaeological Ensemble, the Serra de Tramuntana educational project and Talayotic Menorca's initiatives aimed at the local community.
