The course “Landscape Archaeology: A Resource for Understanding the Relationship Between Heritage and Territory” aims to understand how landscape archaeology can help us approach past societies and improve cultural heritage management today, with the collaboration of the Talayotic Menorca Agency. 

Activities to disseminate the heritage of Talayotic Menorca included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The programme offers activities, outings and guided tours that will allow you to learn about the social, cultural and environmental values of our heritage. Next activity will be on June 1 LITTLE TALAYOTICS IN ACTION: CLOTHING AND RITUALS. Trepucó.

In this space you can discover the values that make Talayotic Menorca a World Heritage Site. This exhibition has been jointly produced by the Museu de Menorca and the Talayotic Menorca Agency.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the new Space 0, Cuddling the forgotten: child burials in Cornia Nou, the Museu de Menorca has prepared a visit to explain this exceptional find. The visit will be led by Damià Ramis and Montserrat Anglada, co-director of the intervention project in Cornia Nou, and Àloe Masdeu, anthropologist.

Tertulia with Menorcan graphic designer Alex Gifreu, where he will show some of the books, brands and posters he has designed, such as the Talayotic Menorca logo. Organized by Ateneu de Maó. 

On this occasion, the Museu de Menorca will delve deeper into childhood and the treatment of death in the Balearic Islands, from a more sensorial perspective. Conference by Margalida A. Coll, Postdoctoral Researcher Mediterranean Archeology Research Group (Pompeu Fabra University) / Arqueo UIB, University of the Balearic Islands.

Conference dedicated to one of the most unknown parts of archaeology, motherhood, care and childhood at the Museu de Menorca. By one of the most relevant experts, Patxuka de Miguel Ibáñez, osteoarchaeologist and head of the Hospital Mare de Déu dels Lliris in Alcoi.

We are all familiar with the Naveta des Tudons, but very close by there is also a small, little-known necropolis. Excursion organised by the Museu de Menorca, led by archaeologist Montserrat Anglada.

Using the children's funerary urns found next to the Cornia Nou talayot, the Museu de Menorca talks about childhood, care, mourning, memory and the treatment of perinatal and infant death in the Talayotic culture.

On November 3 in Torrellafuda, the fifth activity of Becatalaiotica 2024 will take place: EVERYTHING LIVED IS IRRECUPERABLE, an artistic installation by Alícia Carmo (1999, Madrid).

During the month of October, the Fundació Foment del Turisme de Menorca offers the possibility of taking a guided tour of the Torre d'en Galmés settlement free of charge.

Visit the Talayotic settlement of Son Olives, which preserves one of the most unknown taula sanctuaries, ending with a tasting of Menorcan products and a short history of cheese in Menorca. Organised by the Museu de Menorca.

On October 27 in Trepucó will take place the fourth activity of Becatalaiotica 2024: HUELLAS, physical theatre, by Claudia Nieva (2022, Terrassa, Barcelona).

The third Becatalaiotica 2024 activity will take place on October 20 in Torre d'en Galmés: FOOTPRINT AND SONG: AVIAN DANCE, a contemporary dance performance by Neus Montané (2000, Barcelona).

Egyptology arouses fascination in our society. In Menorca there is also a widespread curiosity for this period of history, partly related to its own prehistoric culture, the Talayotic, through the discovery, in 1974, of the statuette of the Egyptian god Imhotep in the taula enclosure of Torre d'en Galmés.
 

Lecture by Irene Riudavets at the Museu de Menorca on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the Egyptian figurine of Imhotep in the taula sanctuary of Torre d'en Galmés.

The second Becatalaiotica 2024 activity will take place on October 12 in Torralba d'en Salort: ‘Untitled', audiovisual projection and discussion by Maria Paz Serra (1995, Barcelona).

With this excursion the Museu de Menorca wishes to highlight the archaeological excavations carried out during the 1970s in the taula sanctuary of Torre d'en Galmés, directed by the director of the Museu de Mallorca, Dr. Guillem Rosselló Bordoy.

The Becatalaiotica 2024 programme kicks off on 28 September at Talatí de Dalt with CANÇÓ DE TAULA, an audiovisual installation by Eva Antelo (1997, Santiago de Compostela).

The Talayotic settlement of Trepucó will be the setting for a commemorative event, open to the public (prior registration required, travel by bus) to celebrate the first anniversary of Menorca Talayotic as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Amics del Museu de Menorca is organising a visiting day at Torralba d'en Salort, so that the team of researchers can show and explain the work carried out during the 2024 campaign, the third dedicated to the excavation and restoration project of the ‘post-medieval’ building at the site.
 

‘Talayotic Menorca, a world heritage in a constant process of research’ is the title of the course that the Universitat Catalana d'Estiu is dedicating this year to our prehistoric heritage. Organised by the Institut Menorquí d'Estudis, the course is coordinated by Amalia Pérez Juez and Antoni Ferrer, director of the Talayotic Menorca Agency.

The documentary 'Chillida: el arte y los sueños' by Susana Chillida opens the open-air film season at Hauser & Wirth, offering an intimate exploration of the existential themes in the work of the great sculptor Eduardo Chillida as his connection with Menorca and some prehistoric influences in his work.

“Talayotic culture, a World Heritage Site” is the title of the new course that the UNED will teach on July 1, 2 and 3 in Maó. We will look at this cultural heritage from a current perspective, also considering the new methodologies applied in the study. Attendance can be on-site or online.

The Talayotic Menorca Agency, the Museu de Menorca and the Museu de Can Saura are organising this seminar on 14 June, within the framework of the European Archaeology Days 2024.

Learn about the figure of the Talayotic slinger, the modern sport of sling shooting and the different types of slings used! The workshop will consist of making your own esparto grass sling and practising throwing so that you can then continue to practise on your own.
 

Kosme de Barañano, the leading expert in Eduardo Chillida’s work, will give a talk on the artist’s practice, including his connection to Menorca and some prehistoric influences in his work. The talk will be accompanied by a presentation of the symbolic worldview of Talayotic monuments in Menorca and links to contemporary art by Antoni Ferrer, director of the Talayotic Menorca Agency.
 

Lecture by researchers Tom Brughmans and Alejandra Galmés on new methodologies based on network analysis to understand the visual connections and relationships between sites. Brughmans is one of the world's leading specialists in the application of network analysis in archaeology.

The Talayotic Menorca Agency and the Museu de Menorca open a new exhibition space dedicated to the declaration of Menorca Talayotic as World Heritage. Activity related to the celebration of International Museum Day 2024.
 

The team of archaeologists working at the site -Auxilio Moreno, Mauricio Marciales, Monice Timm and Marta Díaz-Zorita- will present a balance of the results obtained during these ten years of research, on this occasion accompanied by PhD students who have focused their theses on the archaeological remains of the Biniedrís Cave.

Antoni Ferrer, director of the Talayotic Menorca Agency, will open the 17th Congress of the Master's Degree in Professional Archaeology and Integral Heritage Management at the University of Alicante. "Talayotic Menorca, current knowledge and the process of inscription on the World Heritage List" is the title of the lecture.
 

Presentation of the work "The island of talayots. Visibility and visual connections on the island of Menorca during the Talayotic period", by the author Alejandra Galmés (INCIPIT-CSIC and ArqueoUIB). This studyt is part of the preparatory work for the candidacy of Talayotic Menorca as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
