Interview

This month, we interview archaeologist Octavio Torres Gomariz, who has just published the book Cercles, l'hàbitat protohistòric de l'illa de Menorca alongside Amalia Pérez-Juez. The book is available online in the repository of the University of Alicante as part of the Petracos Collection from the university’s Institute of Archaeology and Historical Heritage.

This month we interview Menorcan musician and composer Marco Mezquida, who this weekend presents his work Talaiot for the first time in Menorca.

This month we interview Alex Smith, Associate Professor of Anthropology at SUNY Brockport. Since 2020, Alex is the co-director of the Menorca Archaeological Project with Amalia Pérez-Juez, excavating medieval domestic structures at Torre d’en Galmés.

This June we interviewed Llorenç Picornell, archaeologist and researcher of the ArqueoUIB research group of the Department of Historical Sciences and Theory of the Arts of the Universitat de les Illes Balears. He is a specialist in anthracology, which focuses on the analysis of the remains of wood and charcoal recovered in archaeological contexts.

This May we interviewed Mallorcan archaeologist Alejandra Galmés, a specialist in landscape archaeology and the use of geographic information systems in archaeology. She contributed to the preparation of the UNESCO World Heritage Talayotic Menorca dossier.

This April we interviewed Marga Sánchez Romero, archaeologist and vice-rector of University Extension, Heritage and Institutional Relations at the University of Granada, where she is professor of Prehistory in the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology. 

This March we interview Francesc Isbert. He carries out his professional activity in the field of safeguarding and studying Menorcan artistic heritage, painting, sculpture in general, with special dedication to archaeological restoration.

This February we interview Carmen Lara Astiz, an archaeologist with extensive experience linked to Talayotic Menorca. Her experience has led her to participate in excavations in diferent places such as Menorca, Navarre, Catalonia, France and Cyprus.

This December we interviewed the historian and museologist Antoni Nicolau, drafter of the Management Plan for the Assets of Talayotic Menorca, which establishes the mechanisms to guarantee the conservation of its exceptional universal value.

This November we interviewed Montserrat Anglada, an archaeologist and technician at the Museu de Menorca. Specialised in historical heritage conservation, she is also a member of the Governing Council of the Talayotic Menorca Agency. Since 2001 she has worked on various archaeological projects in Menorca, Mallorca and Catalonia.

This month we interview Antoni Ferrer Rotger, archaeologist and director of the Talayotic Menorca Agency. Specialised in the prehistory and protohistory of the Balearic Islands, he has a long career in the field of research.

This month we interview Joaquim Pons Machado, archaeologist, and one of those responsible for the new candidacy dossier that has recently received the endorsement of ICOMOS.
